Now around the mid-trimester mark, 2 IB student Paula Gimenez shares her CAS project, which consisted of acting as a co-chair in the biggest Model United Nations conference in Europe for teens in Madrid, most commonly known as MUN teens.

Her experience took place from February 25th to the 27th, where she worked alongside the chair of the DISEC committee to manage the date, enforce the procedures and support the delegates, especially those who were experiencing MUN for the first time. For and during this CAS project she developed her skills in communication, problem solving and team work, as well as her ability to disconnect and be un-bias.

“My biggest challenge was maintaining control of the room while trying to promote an inclusive debate” she shared with me.

All in all, this project enabled her to improve her confidence in a leadership role in an academic setting, as well as affirm her ability to work effectively in a large group. “It’s the best feeling when you see that people are actively learning from your leadership and role”
