2º ESO B: Crónica Halloween

Dear Families,

Boo to you! Halloween has always been very important for the British School of Aragon because of its British origin. It comes from the expression “All Hallows Eve” that means the day before all saints day that is directly linked to Christianism but also to the pagan celt and roman belief that used to celebrate the end of harvesting in memory of their dead relatives.

This year the theme was “1974: Back to the Future”, referring to the 50 year anniversary of the school that will be celebrated during all the school year. Everyone could come to school dressed up in a spooky way in order to scare the teachers and their friends, but it wasn’t mandatory to bring a costume if they didn’t want to.

Our little kids from infants school did a fancy dress parade in the morning and some different activities based on the 5 senses. 1, 2 and 3 EP went through the parade going around the playground, administration and infant classes in the morning. From 4 EP to 6 EP in the morning they did some very fun games and activities that 3 and 4 ESO had prepared for them.

The secondary students from 1 and 2 ESO made some balloon modeling and cooking workshops in the morning. Each student was able to give a spooky meaning to the balloons by making a pumpkin, bats, cats or any other kind of scary beings. Also they cooked, making for example, a ghost, a pumpkin, a skeleton or any other type of biscuit. During the morning 3 ESO students also prepared the Haunted House, with scary and terrifying masks or dresses that may have made some nightmares to the visitors that were primary students. At the same time, in the morning, 3 and 4 ESO students prepared activities for primary which were already mentioned before.

We finished the day with our typical Halloween Parade in which families came in the afternoon to visit us, and to see our great window decorations, that all the students from 1 ESO on had been preparing in order to win the prize for the best scary decoration, this year related to the topic, 1974: Back to the Future, that will be celebrated during all the school year. Another activity prepared for families was the pumpkin competition, in which the participants could win a prize for the spookiest and the funniest ones. We are really looking forward to knowing the winners of both contests. Another 31st of October is gone, but there are less days left until next year’s scariest night.
